Gwyneth Paltrow may be a Hollywood superstar and lifestyle guru but that doesn't mean she doesn't embarrass her teenage daughter on social media.

The 46-year-old Goop founder received a telling off from 14-year-old Apple after she posted a sweet photo of the pair posing together on a ski lift during their recent holiday.

Paltrow captioned the photo with an apple emoji, a skiing emoji and a red heart emoji. But Apple shattered their mother-daughter bonding by commenting: 'Mom we have discussed this.

'You may not post anything without my consent.'

Paltrow exclaimed: 'You can't even see your face!'

Apple was wearing ski goggles and a helmet, but she still looked like her mother's mini-me. Paltrow usually keeps Apple and Moses, 12, out of the public eye, as does their dad Coldplay's Chris Martin.

Neither are known to share images of their kids on social media, although the Avengers star celebrated National Daughters Day last year with a lovely photo of Apple on Instagram. She added the heartfelt caption: 'Happy #nationaldaughtersday Apple Martin, it’s like i conjured you from a dream, you make my life.'

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Paltrow will make her small screen return in Netflix's dark comedy The Politician.

The series is written by husband Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy, and she will co-star alongside Bette Midler, American Horror Story's Jessica Lange, Bohemian Rhapsody star Lucy Boynton, Zoey Deutch, Laura Dreyfuss and Rahne Jones.

The actress added: 'Only @bradfalchukand his ingenious writing could get me back to the original day job. The Politician starts on @netflix September 27 (my birthday!)'
