“If your skin looks great, you don’t need makeup,” actress and Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow tells BAZAAR.com in a statement. Just like the GoopGlow Dark Spot Exfoliating Sleep Milk and Cloudberry Exfoliating Jelly Cleanser, which each resurface skin and enhance its radiance, the brand's new Vita-C Brightening Eye Cream is another rotation essential designed to course correct dull, uneven tone.

Created with a blend of ingredients you might already find in your go-to under-eye mask or cream, including vitamin C, caffeine, and niacinamide, along with some you may not, like amino acids and phytomimetic vitamin A (a plant-based alternative to retinoid), Vita-C's formula aims to de-puff while reducing fine lines and boosting moisture.

The gel-cream also contains micro pearls for optimal luminosity, and is versatile enough for both day and night application. Opt to use it alone with moisturizer and SPF, or as a primer under your face makeup for an instant glow. Here, the star shares more about Goop's newest beauty launch, and reveals some of her holy-grail wellness methods to expertly navigate flu season (spoiler alert: it includes tons of vitamin C).

What inspired you to launch a vitamin C eye cream that's also color correcting?

I mean, who doesn't need that, right? We have an amazing product development team, and what we do is basically sit down together and identify where we feel there's white space for products: areas where we feel that we can do something new or something better than anybody else has done it.

The team had the idea for this vitamin C brightening eye cream, which was so cool. It's so interesting to learn about ingredients like caffeine that make it active, and essentially, they thought they could make something really new. I'm a big eye cream fan, and I was like, 'Okay, let's see if we can do something that addresses both fine lines and wrinkles and the coloration that happens under the eye.' And so, I feel so happy with what we've created.

What would you say is your favorite way to ingest vitamin C through food?

Probably fresh lemons. We have a lemon tree here in California, and especially during winter months, they're so plentiful. It's great because it's obviously always cold and flu season when the lemons are in bloom, so, it's nature's way of helping us keep our immunity up. And, I have our GoopGlow every day for skin, and that has a ton of vitamin C in it.

I know that Goop Kitchen is currently only based in California, but are you planning on bringing it to New York City or other states anytime soon?

We are! We haven't landed on a date yet—it won't be this year—but we are hard at work planning, and I guarantee you that we will open in New York City.

If you were tasked with giving up one part of your beauty routine, what would it be?

Because I don't wear a lot of makeup normally, I could probably get away with giving up cleanser, and just use a hot wash cloth on my skin and exfoliate, because what I can't give up is my face oil and moisturizer.

What's something you've done recently, either beauty- or wellness-related, that might surprise people?

Gosh, I don't know that anything is so surprising. Well, I do NAD IV drips, which are supposed to be very anti-aging, so I try to do one of those every few months. I did that yesterday as another beauty from the inside out kind of treatment.

That was actually one of my next questions: I saw you were a guest on The Art of Being Well podcast actually wearing an IV drip during your conversation.

I think they're really helpful if you have a good doctor prescribing what's in it, and a good nurse to kind of jab you with it. But, it's one of the ways I typically get through flu season, and especially with long-term inflammatory stuff—I've had some long COVID symptoms and mold exposure in the past, so I find IVs incredibly helpful for anything chronic.

Have you increased your vitamin C intake through IV before?

Yeah, so there's one that's been around for the longest that people get—it's kind of like a general one—called the Myer's Cocktail IV. They kind of put a whole bunch of vitamins in the bag, and there's always a huge dose of vitamin C in the cocktail as well.

What are three words you'd use to describe your approach to aging, your skincare routine, and the next five years of Goop?

For aging, I would say: acceptance, grace, and also strategy. So, your strategy of aging—you know, slow it down, but also not do anything too crazy. In terms of my skincare routine, I'd say: exfoliating, hydrating, plumping. And for what's next at Goop: growth, excitement, and scale.
