While Prue Leith is best known for being one of the judges on the Great British Bake Off, alongside Paul Hollywood, she also has famous relatives and a staggering net worth. Prue was born in Cape Town, South Africa, the daughter of a mining explosives manufacturer and an actress.

Her mother, Peggy Inglis, was the country's most celebrated stage actor at the time. Then she moved to London and began her culinary career, which included a party and event caterer business, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Notting Hill, and culinary institutions and academies.

She first appeared on TV in the 1970s and before Bake Off, she was a judge on The Great British Menu for 11 years until 2016. Prue replaced Mary Berry on The Great British Bake Off in 2017 when the show moved from BBC One to Channel 4.

They had two children together, their daughter Li-Da Kruger who they adopted and is now a filmmaker and son Danny Kruger who is currently Shadow Minister for Defence. Danny has been the Conservative MP for East Wiltshire since 2019. He was David Cameron's chief speechwriter in 2006 and was briefly Boris Johnson's political secretary in 2019. Prue is now married to retired fashion designer John Playfair and the pair have been wed for nearly ten years after tying the knot in 2016.
