Great British Bake Off is about as wholesome as it gets. Even when Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are offering criticisms to the contestants, it's followed up with a tongue-in-cheek innuendo or even a nice compliment.

Which might be why 2021 contestant Lizzie just got a tattoo dedicated to her feedback from Paul and Prue, and it's kind of amazing. The 28-year-old from Liverpool formed a long-lasting friendship with fellow contestant Freya, and took to TikTok to share their inking experience.

During last night's Caramel Week [2 November 2021], Lizzie created a caramel tart for her signature, which Prue said looked "rough and ready", adding that although the dessert didn’t have "finesse", it was packed full of "delicious" flavour.

"No finesse, again. Flavour, no finesse," Lizzie told the camera, a comment that she clearly took to heart - and skin.

In the TikTok video, Lizzie explained that she chose the word 'finesse’ for her tattoo "because it seems where I lack in life". She had it tattooed in script writing along with a whisk. Freya, meanwhile, who left the competition during German week, went for a simple tribute to the show with the acronym "GBBO."

Later in Caramel Week, Paul remarked to Lizzie, ‘We asked for finesse and I think we’ve got it.’ Looks like the tattoo was accurate after all!

Next week’s episode is all about 'Free From', where bakers will be tested on their talents without eggs, dairy or gluten.

The Great British Bake Off returns next Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
