Goodbye Marianne Faithfull, The OG Fringe Icon
The British singer and actor Marianne Faithfull passed away in London yesterday at age 78, announced a spokesperson.
Often painted by many as a rock n' roll muse, Hampstead-born Faithfull was an artist and revered performer in her own right. Despite the ups and downs, she had an impressive career as a singer, songwriter and actor, delivering songs such as With You In Mind, Strange Weather and As Tears Go By that will live on forever.

In 1981, Faithfull was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for her album Broken English. She made her mark both on stage and screen, with appearances in the films Irina Palm and Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, alongside theatre performances in Three Sisters at the Royal Court Theatre in 1967 and more recently in 2004, as Pegleg The Black Rider at the Barbican Centre.
Beyond that, Faithfull is also known for being a style and beauty icon. You'd be hard-pressed to find a beauty editor who doesn't have a picture of Faithfull's fringe on their moodboard.
