Good Morning Britain turns awkward as host makes dig at unsmiling Alex Beresford

Good Morning Britain have had their fair share of awkward moments over the years. And there was one on this morning's instalment  (4 July) when stand-in presenter Adil Ray seemed to make a dig at the weatherman.

Adil’s co-star, Kate Garraway, introduced Alex Beresford saying: "We also have an expert on the weather"

From where he was sitting, Adil looked over and teased: "Oh I don't know about that."

Alex didn't smile and seemed to ignore the dig from Adil before he retorted: "What is important is your polling outfit - what you're going to wear."

Adil exclaimed: “A polling outfit?!”

Kate agreed with Alex and said: “You’ve touched on a good point there.”

Adil didn’t think so and added: “It’s not a red carpet. OK, what will you wear?”

Alex replied. “I want to wear something that makes me feel good.”

Adil continued to debate with Alex before Kate stopped him stating that they ‘wouldn’t have time to talk with the expert’ if he carried on.

Good Morning Britain had a major change in their Thursday 4 July line-up with Kate and Adil appearing on the panel - something which was a surprise to viewers.

Fans were confused by the absence of the usual hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls.

However Kate confirmed it was because their pair are back on Friday 5 July for the General Election results special episode - which would also be longer than usual.

There was also another change to the show, because it aired on the day of Britain’s General Election. Due to Ofcom rules, there was absolutely no talk about politics other than the news that the polls are open, and how to vote.

Kate reported the news on the show, she said: “So breaking news this morning, in the last few moments polling stations have opened right across the country to allow millions of people to vote in the General Election.”

Adil added: “Most results will start coming in from the early hours of Friday morning. We’ll have all the latest election news and analysis in a special edition of Good Morning Britain from 6 tomorrow.”

When Kate appeared on GMB in June, she was forced to stop her co-star Andi Peters from talking too.

Kate playfully pointed out how Andi, evidently buzzing about the prize, got so engrossed in gabbing with Charlotte that he momentarily neglected the live segment. "Andi is so excited about the prize," Kate declared as she observed him deeply engaged with his colleague.
