The Good Doctor has announced that Dear Evan Hansen star Noah Galvin will join the show for season 4.

Galvin and fellow newcomers Summer Brown, Bria Samoné Henderson (Mrs America) and Brian Marc (The Kill Team) will all have recurring roles in the series, playing first-year residents vying for positions at St Bonaventure Hospital.

Galvin will play Dr Asher Wolke, a former orthodox Jew who separated himself from his religious beliefs before he decided to attend medical school.

Brown will play Dr Olivia Jackson, an insecure Harvard and Oxford graduate, while Henderson will portray faithful Baptist Dr Jordan Allen, who appears to be focused on building more than just her medical career.

And finally, Marc will play Dr Enrique "Ricky" Guerin, a surfer who's anything but laid back when it comes to his profession.

As previously revealed, the season 4 premiere will address the coronavirus pandemic head on, following the lead of fellow medical drama Grey's Anatomy.

News of this topical move came just a few months after one of the show's stars, Daniel Dae Kim, revealed that he had tested positive for the virus.

"I wanted to let you know that yesterday I tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus," he wrote in an Instagram post in March.

"For the past several weeks I was in New York shooting a role on a TV series (The Good Doctor), where, ironically, I play a doctor who gets recruited to a hospital to help patients during a flu pandemic."

The Good Doctor season 4 will air on ABC in the US. The show airs on Sky Witness and NOW TV in the UK.
