Gogglebox star branded ‘creepy’ by viewers after giving bizarre presents to women at Christmas
A Gogglebox star was branded ‘creepy’ by viewers after revealing the bizarre personal presents he had given to women at Christmas. Giles, who stars on the Channel 4 show with his wife Mary, previously revealed the presents he'd purchased for people, following a news story about shoppers stockpiling gifts.
He bragged that he was very good at selecting gifts for his friend and family, telling Mary: "I always give people very nice presents but they're very useful presents." Mary then counter argued Giles' claim by sharing a story about what one of her husband's more unusual gifts at Christmas time.
"I remember the year we went to stay with some people and there were five girls and you gave each one of them a free chlamydia test that you got from the doctor," Mary revealed as she tried not to laugh. Giles appeared proud of his unique gift idea, adding: "I gave them a testing kit that I got free from the surgery. It seemed to kill two birds with one stone."

Viewers at home were stunned by Giles' confession. One person wrote on X: "Chlamydia Kit? Creepy."
However, others thought the gift idea was fun, saying: "So Giles on Gogglebox gave his friends' five daughters a chlamydia test each as a Christmas gift... That man is a complete living legend!" while another added: "Best start to #Gogglebox in a long time... #GilesandMary discussing Xmas gifts and Giles giving out chlamydia tests to the girls.... *crying uncontrollably*".
Giles and Mary have become fan favourites on the hit Channel 4 show, which they joined back in 2015. Gogglebox fans shared their support for the couple when they posted a throwback photograph of them together. Though viewers at home may recognise Mary and Giles now, the pair look completely different in a snap of them as young adults from the 90s.
In the snap, Giles could be seen wearing a navy blue polo shirt and striped hat as he held a glass of wine in his hand. Meanwhile, Mary sported a black and white heart printed blouse and sun hat. Captioning the post, Giles wrote: “Giles and Mary circa 1990.”
In response to the snap, fans of the show flocked to the comments section to show Mary and Giles their support. “My absolute favourite people!!,” wrote one. “I just love them,” another added.
The iconic duo met when they were 21 years old while Giles was studying at Wimbledon Art School and Mary was working as a model. These days, Giles is an artist while Mary is a journalist.
