Good Morning Britain star Narinder Kaur has issued an apology for causing offence after receiving backlash from a social media post about Kate Middleton. Narinder, who rose to fame on Big Brother in 2001, called her post “stupid” and said that she “put my hands up” in response to the controversy.

On Sunday, 10 November, the Princess of Wales attended the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph in Westminster alongside fellow royals including Prince William and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. Her appearance at the event followed the announcement that she has ended her treatment after revealing in March that she was undergoing cancer treatment.

After Kate attended the event, Narinder posted on X: “Genuine question – why has Kate aged so much? Isn't she only 42? Is she a smoker? It's the only explanation.” The Jeremy Vine star later deleted the original tweet and said that she'd received death threats and racist comments as a result of the post.

She also uploaded a video in which she addressed the original post. In the clip, Narinder explained that it “wasn’t my intention” to be “malicious”. She said: “I thought I’d do a quick video instead of tweet after tweet, because it becomes pretty ridiculous – as if it wasn’t ridiculous enough already.

“I put out a stupid tweet. That wasn’t my intention, my intention was not to be malicious or nasty or anything. I’m not like that, anybody who knows me. It was stupid to ask about the ageing. I’ve admitted that, I’ve put my hands up and apologised if it caused offence.

“The only people who were offended, though, because many people on social media have asked what I asked but did not receive the sexual, racial, violent abuse that I did, were accounts with Union Jacks – disgusting abuse.”

Narinder also claimed that people were “pitting” the Princess of Wales against Meghan Markle in response to the tweet and defiantly added that her critics would “not silence” her. “I tell you something else that was very telling. A lot of the comments were all about ‘where’s Meghan Markle?’ What’s Meghan got to do with it?

“You exposed your narrative. You exposed that what this was all about was I, as a brown woman, an Indian, had had the gall to criticise Kate’s appearance.” she added. “Now by the way, it was her ageing. […] I have never slated Kate’s looks. All you would have found was me saying how beautiful Kate is and to not pit Kate against Meghan.”

She continued “I’m not going anywhere, I’m not leaving the country. I’m continuing. You can keep cancelling me as much as you like, but you will not silence my voice just because I’m a brown woman. And it is that – you will never convince me otherwise.

“I’ve done my apologies. I can live with myself. It was just a tweet about ageing… think about that.”
