Glenn Close owned the red carpet at this year's Met Gala (Monday 1 May) in a stunning sequin dress and spellbinding cape look.

The star opted for a mint green cape which cascaded into a train behind her, featuring a wide ruffled hemline. Glenn styled the cape cape off her shoulders, while its sheer size required three men to arrange it to for her as she posed for photographers at the event.

Glenn was a vision in head to toe sequins, wearing a sparkling silver, straight-cut dress with long sleeves, which featured subtle, streamlined panel detailing. A sharp shirt collar and cuffs contrasted the outfit in crisp white, while she layered intricate diamond jewellery around her neckline and cuffs.

Glenn's look was created by Erdem and the designer, Erdem Moralıoğlu, posed alongside her on the red carpet in a smart tuxedo.

The theme of this year's Met Gala was "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty" in honour of the legendary designer who sadly passed away earlier this year.

The event took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on the first Monday of May, as is tradition.

Other guests at the prestigious event included Viola Davis in a fabulous pink feathered dress and Penelope Cruz in a sparkling etherial look, while Jessica Chastain unveiled an icy blonde hair transformation for the occasion.

Other stars looked to the past for inspiration for their looks, as Anne Hathaway channelled the 1990s with an iconic safety-pin dress, and Nicole Kidman wowed in a vintage Chanel gown which she wore in an advert for the designer brand in 2004.
