Glen Powell Shares a Major Update on 'Top Gun 3'
TOP GUN 3 is happening. Glen Powell spilled the news during a taping of the "Happy Sad Confused” podcast at the 92nd Street Y, while promoting his latest film, tornado drama Twisters.
The star was joined by his co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones; the duo were asked what was more likely to return, Edgar-Jones's romantic drama Normal People or Top Gun, the iconic fighter pilot franchise that linked Powell with Tom Cruise and helped fuel his recent breakout. Although Edgar-Jones could not give any indication whether or not her Hulu show was coming back, Powell did share exciting news for any Top Gun fans.
'I mean, I have a date,' he said. When asked if the actor could share any more details, the star insisted 'absolutely not.'
Powell and Cruise have both indicated a desire to work on the franchise together again.
'So, is there going to be a Top Gun 3? If we can figure out more crazy things to do with airplanes or a story that is compelling and emotional and adventurous and romantic and all those things like, I am sure Tom would be down,' Powell told Indiewire.
Cruise was recently seen supporting Powell at the Twisters premiere, and, based on Powell's recent comments, it seems like that duo may be seeing one another again in the future. Hopefully, the filming date is legit – and we get more details sooner rather than later. Perhaps in 2025?
