It might have been 17 years since we first glimpsed the comedy-drama which brought us the winning combination of Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, and, crucially, a collective hate for the character Nate, but due to its endless quotability and memification potential, The Devil Wears Prada still feels as relevant as ever.
So if you’re one of the many fans hungry for more, you’re in luck, because The Refinery City Point by Drake and Morgan and Taste Film have invented a stop gap: an ‘immersive dining experience’ centred around the fictional fashion film.
Beginning September 15th, the same day we kick off London Fashion Week, for nine days spread over September and October, enthusiasts can catch one of two daily screenings of The Devil Wears Prada while feasting on a menu inspired by the film.
Thankfully, there’s more on offer than corn chowder and a single cube of cheese. In fact, it sounds like a real cheesefest, with dishes titled Bagels Over Bottega, Steaks Are High and A Taste for Paris, and cocktails called the Coffee Run-Way and Penthouse Party Punch, which for those without a Rosetta Stone, translates as smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels, steak with chimichurri, lyonnaise potatoes and tenderstem broccoli, and chocolate ganache with roasted strawberries, served alongside sweet, glam takes on espresso and pornstar martinis.
Groundbreaking? Perhaps not, but it’s not like we have a hideous skirt convention to go to.
Tickets go on sale on August 24th, so don’t move at a glacial place.
