Giorgio Armani is marking a huge milestone. The designer is today celebrating his 90th birthday, and next year, his namesake brand will mark its 50th anniversary – but, despite this, he is still showing no signs of slowing down.

The fashion house has just announced that it is set to host a major celebration this October, decamping from Milan to New York Fashion Week for a season, where he will present his spring/summer 2025 collection, and will open Armani's impressive new building on Madison Avenue (which will house boutiques, a restaurant and residential units) with a star-studded 'One Night Only' event.

"I am delighted to return to New York to celebrate this very important project," the designer said. "My time in this city has always been significant and has marked key moments in my career...The opening of Madison Avenue is an important personal milestone because it crystallises my vision of style in the city that was perhaps the first to truly embrace it."

Armani last showed in New York City in 2013 as part of the same 'One Night Only' franchise. It was a huge extravaganza on the Hudson River, which saw 700 people in attendance, including the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Renee Zellweger and Lauren Hutton.

The designer has also held versions of this event in London, Tokyo, Beijing, Rome, Paris, Dubai and, most recently, in Venice, hosting a show on a lagoon during the film festival. "One Night Only was born of a desire to stage unique, memorable events in some of the world's most remarkable cities – cities that have a particular resonance with myself and my label," he said in 2023.

The Giorgio Armani spring/summer 2025 show will be unveiled on 17 October in New York City, and the house will then return to the Milan show schedule the following season.
