Gigi Hadid's 2024 Met Gala gown had to be carried up the red carpet
Tyla wasn't the only one who needed assistance walking the red carpet at the 2024 Met Gala. Gigi Hadid's head-turning Thom Browne gown featured a ruffled skirt so large that it required a team of handlers to carry the train of the dress as she made her way into this year's event.
Footage of the model's arrival at The Metropolitan Museum of Art shows a group of five men helping to manoeuvre the dramatic, voluminous design as she posed for photographers and slowly walked into the venue.
When asked by one reporter exactly how heavy her train was, she replied "40 pounds" after conferring with those carrying it. Luckily for everyone involved, the weighty skirt was cleverly detached from the dress later in the evening.
With its striking rose embroidery, Gigi's ivory gown beautifully captured this year's 'Garden of Time' Met Gala theme. Once the skirt was removed, it revealed an off-the-shoulder column style corset dress featuring a single yellow rose with green petals. To complement the elegant look, Gigi wore pale yellow and white shoes, a diamond necklace and matching diamond earrings.
For her hair and make-up, she opted for a glamorous old Hollywood curled bob, flushed pink cheeks and a statement red lip. Ahead of her arrival, Gigi shared a glimpse at her pre-Met Gala prep on her Instagram Stories, which included wearing a supermodel favourite – a gold foil face mask.
