Gigi And Bella Hadid Are Joined On The Runway By Mother Yolanda At Paris Fashion Week
Yolanda Hadid has returned to the runway for the first time in over three decades to be the third Hadid to walk at the Off-White AW20 show during Paris Fashion Week.
On Thursday, Virgil Abloh's show opened with Bella Hadid wearing a dramatic black ruffle gown and closed with her elder sister Gigi in a spectacular wedding dress. But mid-way through the show, Yolanda also graced the runway in a white blazer with graffiti emblazoned onto it, black cigarette pants and sunglasses.
The Dutch native modelled for 15 years under her maiden name Yolanda van den Herik, walked the runway in Milan, Paris and New York and starred in magazines like Italian Grazia and Australian and German Vogue.
'It's a full circle right,' the 56 year old told American Vogue ahead of the show. 'It's like riding a bicycle. You never forget how to walk.'
Bella added that when Abloh sent her an initial text requesting 'three Hadids' in his show, she immediately thought that meant their younger brother Anwar, who is also a model.
'It was amazing to walk the runway with her,' Bella told the magazine. 'I think that the outfit he put her in was perfect. It was the most amazing feeling because she's always been the one that kind of gave us tips, and I think today I was more nervous than her.'
The trio posed together backstage before the show looking like the chicest family portrait you ever did see.
Yolanda is usually spotted front row of the shows her daughters walk in, travelling with them to Riccardo Tisci's Burberry show in London, and sitting FROW at Missoni just last week in Milan.
Something must have been in the air at Off-White because other models, who don't frequent the runway as much as they used to, also joined in the fun for Abloh. Alek Wek, Karlie Kloss, and Isabeli Fontana were all spotted striding down the runway while Carla Bruni, Usher, Georgia Fowler and Tyga were seated front row.
