Welsh TV star Gethin Jones is back in Wales as he prepares for a new project away from Morning Live, telling fans "who cares!" as he sends them a festive update. The presenter, who often co-hosts BBC show Morning Live will be leading the cast in this year's Christmas pantomime at New Theatre, Cardiff.

He will play Prince Charming in a production of Cinderella which has kicked off rehearsals and will open its performances on Saturday, December 7. Gethin will be joined alongside broadcaster Owain Wyn Evans as Dandini and New Theatre favourite Mike Doyle as the Baroness. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.

Posting to Instagram as he walked along Cardiff's High Street, Gethin said: "I'm in Cardiff today for the first day of rehearsals for panto! Obviously, we have learnt our lines, the script and our songs, he says, and I'm just off to get a coffee before joining the gang, which I am very excited about because they are a lovely cast, it is going to be class.

"I'm going to be diving between Morning Live and panto for the next couple of weeks and then it is going to be a busy run-in until Christmas, but yeah, can't wait! Have you got your tickets yet? Have a lovely day, the sun is shining in Cardiff, I hope it is where you are and is it early to say happy Christmas? Who cares! Happy Christmas!"

At a launch for the panto on Tuesday, September 3, Gethin spoke to WalesOnline about why returning to Cardiff for the job is so important for him. It is Gethin's second time doing panto, previously playing Prince Charming in Guildford in 2007.

He said: "I absolutely loved it - it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in my career. I never thought I’d get a chance to do another one but I think the stars aligned this year. I managed to sort it out with work and to come back to Cardiff, it’s very very special." You can read more, here.
