Gethin has been absent from TV screens for nearly two weeks in order to attend rehearsals for the pantomime, in which he portrays Prince Charming. The Morning Live team have been filling in for him, with Gordon Smart and Michelle Ackerley among those covering Gethin.

Gethin is starring alongside Owain Wyn Evans, Mike Doyle and Denquar Chupak in the pantomime, which runs until 5 January. He'll be splitting his time between Manchester and Cardiff throughout December.

The synopsis for the show reads: "Packed with all of the traditional pantomime ingredients New Theatre Cardiff audiences expect, Cinderella features laugh-out-loud comedy, stunning scenery, beautiful costumes and plenty of boos and hisses. Join Cinders as she goes from rags to riches, outwits her very wicked sisters and meets her Prince Charming."

In September, Gethin revealed his excitement at being able to be back in Wales around the Christmas period for the panto.

He told Wales Online: "Morning Live is based in Manchester and it is a trek to Cardiff so getting back to see family and friends is not always easy. From a personal point of view, when the offer came in and I saw it said Cardiff I thought it would be amazing to be home and be around at Christmas."

Morning Live airs from 9.30am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
