Gemma Atkinson has shared a swimwear holiday snap – and fans have hailed her 'total body woman goals'.

The former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star, 37, posted an unfiltered image of her wearing a khaki two-set bikini to Instagram while in Tenerife with her family, revealing her abs.

Looking fresh-faced and sun-kissed in two images, one posing while pulling down her sunglasses, and another a selfie while lounging, she wrote, "Humidity & highlights (and of course, a little sunburn even with spf 50)."

With the post gaining more than 92k likes, Atkinson's fans also quickly flooded the comments. "BODYYY", wrote one alongside heart-face and flame emojis, while another wrote, "Total body woman goals. You're a huge inspiration to many."

Others said, "Gemma you're a legend. Posted a pic that isn't filtered. Beautiful" and "Radiating health and happiness", while an endless number also commented, "Love this bikini".

It seems her fiancé Gorka Márquez appreciated the snaps too, even if he could well have been the one behind the camera. The Strictly Come Dancing professional, who first grew close with Atkinson during the 2017 series (despite them being partnered with other people) shared the post to his story with a string of love-heart emojis. The pair are enjoying the holiday with their daughter Mia, two.

Wearing the same khaki bikini top in another recent post, Atkinson revealed the sweet meaning behind Mia's first holiday, with snaps of her holding her outside what looks like a Spanish villa, filled with greenery. The last image in the post features Atkinson pregnant with Mia, from a previous trip in the same location.

She wrote, "For Mias first holiday we came back to the exact place we visited while she was still in my belly. Tenerife will always be special for us. I was lucky enough to holiday here every year as a child.

"It was the first holiday me & Gorks had together, the last place we came before I gave birth and now Mia gets to experience it just like I did growing up. More memories made on a wonderful island."

So, how does the mum-of-one manage to stay so fit? She recently told Women's Health UK that 'functional training' is one of her favourites. "It’s about training to keep functional, so there’s some strength-based training and lots of cardio in there as well," she said. "I kind of put what I look like to the side, I’m 38 this year so it’s also about keeping on top of my stretches."

She also said she does yoga once a week. "I always incorporate a mobility session in my warm-up, too, then I'll do a couple of super sets, a big cardio blast and some functional stretching to make sure I'm on tip top form," she explained.

However, earlier this week, Atkinson also spoke against the pressure for mums to immediately get back into shape after giving birth, saying she's the 'heaviest she's ever been'.

“Exercising was the last thing on my mind after I had Mia," she told The Sun. "I waited 16 weeks before I started walking with her in the pram. I wanted to be in this little newborn bubble with her at home."

She added, "Instead, I focused on my nutrition and that gave me energy and made me feel good mentally.

"When Mia was four months, I started exercising again, but it took me six months to be able to get back to my pre-pregnancy training regime safely.”

Her new second instalment of the book The Ultimate Body Plan is aimed specifically at new mums, but she makes clear, "This is not a ‘Get your body back’ plan. It’s a ‘Feel stronger, healthier and more confident’ plan.”

As an example, she said, "I did 15 minutes of yoga this morning and felt amazing. We need to get out of the idea that you have to train for an hour and deprive yourself of food."

"I’m about 11st 5lb – the heaviest I’ve been in my life [apart from when she was pregnant with Mia] – but I’m also lean, strong and healthy. Weight doesn’t bother me," she added.
