Gavin & Stacey's Ruth Jones and James Corden will "definitely" reunite for something new
Gavin & Stacey co-creator Ruth Jones has teased a future reunion with James Corden.
As well as writing the hit BBC sitcom together – consisting of three series and two festive specials – Jones and Corden portray on-and-off lovers Nessa and Smithy, who faded out on a killer cliffhanger last time around.
Speaking to Times Radio presenter Mariella Frostrup recently, the actress was asked if her co-star's return to the UK will make it easier for them to collaborate.
"We've got nothing in the diary to get writing, but I think we will definitely write something together again, because I think that it would be a shame not to," she began.
"Obviously with him coming back to the UK then we've got more chance of getting together. There are no plans to write more Gavin & Stacey... I like the idea of leaving it where we left it, if I'm honest."
Looks like we're in for more years of torture, then.
Further addressing that earth-shattering 2019 Christmas episode, Jones continued: "I don't know if we could better that episode, I really don't.
"And I would rather leave it like it is than disappoint people because it's so loved and, and I'm so complimented that people love it so much."
Corden himself broached the subject in June, describing the ongoing fandom as "amazing" before admitting there's potential to revisit Gavin & Stacey.
"It's incredible how people care about those characters in the show. It's so great and I realise the ending of that special does very definitely tease something else."
All Gavin & Stacey episodes are available on BBC iPlayer.
