Are you even a fan of Gavin & Stacey if you've not had a capuccino in Marco's down The Island? The show will return one final time this Christmas and while we will never see new scenes of Gavin, Stacey, Nessa and Smithy back on our screens again, we can always relive the series and visit the iconic filming locations.

Gavin & Stacey was filmed across south Wales, with no scenes actually filmed in Essex, and lots of locations were used during the final episode which will air at 9pm on Christmas Day on BBC One. One of the best parts about visiting the primary filming location of Gavin and Stacey is that you can also enjoy a lovely day at the beach.

Below are the filming locations used in the final episode and also recognisable locations used throughout the beloved series. There's more to the show than just Barry Island, so here are some of the places from some of the most memorable scenes. For all our Gavin & Stacey content, click here.

Barry Island

This is an obvious choice - it's hard to find a scene where it isn't mentioned! Stacey works at Marco's cafe, a real establishment on the seafront; Nessa works at the local arcades; the gang often hang out on the beach near the Western Shelter by Boofy's and O'Shea's chip shops (delicious), and it's where Gav first meets Stacey off the bus after their initial meeting in London.

It's a fantastic place for a walk, and you're bound to come across some Gavin and Stacey memorabilia along the way, including the character sign on the side of Marco's - perfect for a photo op! We know that Nessa gives Stacey a ride along Barry seafront and she has been pictured filming with a suitcase and looking wistfully at her arcades.

Trinity Street, Barry

Just a short distance from the island (albeit uphill), boasting a cracking view over the town, is Gwen West's house. This is where she and Stacey live for much of the series, and Nessa occasionally drops by to borrow some batteries.

In the original series, Doris was Gwen's next-door neighbour, but since actress Margaret John's passing, and the Christmas special 2019, we now know Gavin & Stacey live there with their kids. Across the street resides Uncle Bryn, as depicted in the show.

The cast were back filming on Trinity Street for the Christmas special and Mathew Horne, who plays Gavin, even got his birthday cake from fans who had been waiting on Trinity Street. Many fans came to watch the filming and were treated to Corden and Jones walking up to greet them, arm-in-arm.

Those dedicated to stay until late were also treated to a sweet message from the cast as super-fans shouted "we love you." The cast also filmed scenes inside the house on Trinity Street.

The Pumphouse, Barry

We also know scenes were filmed outside The Pumphouse, which is a Grade II listed building on Barry Docks now regenerated into a sports, leisure and entertainment complex, in Barry. Ruth Jones, who plays Nessa, Joanna Page, who plays Stacey, Julia Davis, who plays Dawn, Alison Steadman who plays Pam and Melanie Walter who plays Gwen were all spotted filming there, dressed as if they were going on a night out.

We just included this because it looks really cool and features in the new episode. It's a lighting installation within the railway tunnel between Broad Street and Hood Road, in Barry and Gavin and Smithy walk through there in a scene during the finale - which gives absolutely nothing away.

It's in Billericay isn't it? Is it heck!

Pam and Mick's lovely 1970s detached home is in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, but the owners are not keen on having visitors down their road.

We wrote about how the filming of the show affected them, back in 2009.

With that said, will Pam and Mick's place feature in the new episode? You'll have to wait and see.

Colcot Inn

The cast were also pictured filming at the Colcot Inn, in Barry, for the Christmas special. This pub has been used before in previous episodes and doubles for Gavin and Smithy's local in Essex and where Smithy hosts his quiz night.

Porthkerry Caravan Park

Sadly the caravan where Nessa and Neil, the baby, lived with Dave Coaches isn't there any more. And it's a residential park too, so we're not encouraging people to go in and nose about. As with Gwen's house, if you go on the organised tour they will take you into the park.

If you do get a chance to visit, you'll see why Nessa, Dave and the Welsh nationalists love it so much - more stunning views.

The stunning little church in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan is the scene for both Neil the baby's christening and Dave and Nessa's non-wedding. Who can forget Smithy and Gav bursting through the beautiful, wooden doors at the back of the church to stop Nessa marrying Dave? And Doris on the drums, too!

Culverhouse Cross and Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff

Remember when Smithy pesters Stacey for discounted Marks and Spencer underwear for Lucy for Christmas? Well Stace is working at Marks & Spencer, Culverhouse Cross, though it's meant to be in Essex.

Smithy drives off singing Band Aid's Do They Know it's Christmas Time down the phone with Gav, who if you look closely is at Cardiff Gate Services. Also Smithy and Rudi's rap of Estelle's American Boy takes place outside the Red Dragon Centre, through the car park. And Rudi works at a drive-thru, which is Burger King at Culverhouse, too.

This is a belter of a location for fans as it's the spot of Gwen's birthday barn dance, organised by Bryn. SURPRISE! SURPRISE! t's also where we hear Bryn and Ness sing Islands in the Stream for the first time - and definitely not the last. Let's hope Jean isn't around if you decide to pay a visit.

Glendale Hotel, Penarth

Remember the time in series two when Nessa told Smithy she was pregnant... and he was the father? Well that scene, Capriccios on the telly, was filmed in at the Glendale Hotel. It was also the scene of Pete and Dawn's failed threesome date with Seth.

Did you think Gavin & Stacey's return from Greece - in series two - was filmed at an actual airport? You'd be wrong. The arrivals hall was filmed in the foyer of the Wales Millennium Centre. Pam with her sign and Mick's lax holding of the other end is a classic Shipman squabble scene between the loving couple.

Another iconic scene from the show takes place here. Well, almost. It's where Nessa and Doris almost face off about the non-existent salad for the Christening buffet.

We say almost, because Nessa manages to shout 'OH' at Doris, but the face-off is foiled by Smithy asking about Nessa and Dave's engagement. Earlier in the episode, series three-episode one, is the classic 'where's the salad?' scene.

The Ship, Barry & Greyfriars Road

Gavin's stag took a few different forms. A quiet one, which was filmed in The Ship where Gav found out that Stacey had already been engaged five times and then the other one where Uncle Bryn is left legless in the centre of Cardiff.

The Cardiff stag scenes were filmed on Greyfriars Road where Steinbeck and Shaw is now based. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.
