What do you get when you cast Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner in the story of the notorious jewel thief, Joan Hannington? The new CW series, Joan.
The network announced a new scripted series based on the infamous London criminal that is currently in the early stages of production. Set in the 1980s, Joan will give viewers an inside look into her life, starting in her early adult years and following her journey to becoming one of the most famous female jewel thieves in London, per Deadline.

This week, IVTX released a first-look image from the new series, where we see Turner, 27, rocking a blonde bob and a bold red lip. In the sneak peek photo (see below), the actress looks completely unrecognizable as she fully embodies the jewel thief. Beside her sits her co-star, Frank Dillane (portraying her husband Boisie Hannington), who stares at her intently.
Joan will be directed by BAFTA winner Richard Laxton (Rain Dogs) and Anna Symon (Mrs. Lowry & Son) will serve as the scriptwriter. Alongside Turner and Dillane, the ensemble will also include Kirsty J. Curtis (Match Not Found), Gershwyn Eustache Jr. (I May Destroy You) and Laura Aikman (The Split). As of right now, a release date hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Just by the teaser photo alone, we can already tell Sophie is going to kill this role.
