Future for Call the Midwife confirmed
The doors of Nonnatus House will remain open as BBC One's beloved period drama Call the Midwife has officially been renewed for two new series.
The BBC has confirmed that the midwife drama, created by Heidi Thomas, will be back for series 14 and 15, running until 2026.
"Call the Midwife is the pride and joy of all who work on it, but it's our fantastic, loyal audience that matters most," Heidi said in a statement. "We are a family behind the scenes, on the screen, and in front of the telly, and I'm thrilled that we're all heading into the 1970s together."
The series follows the professional and personal lives of nurses and nuns at Nonnatus House in east London's Poplar as they deal with racism, gender inequality, domestic abuse and mental health problems in the 1950s and '60s.

Series 12 returned on 1st January this year following the 2022 Christmas special that attracted 4.5 million viewers, and filming for series 13 will begin in the spring.
Series 14 and 15 will both have Christmas specials to look forward to, too.
Heidi had previously said she hoped the drama would explore the 1970s, telling Radio Times: "I think in principle, it could go into the 1970s. There are so many stories to tell, medically, socially, even emotionally, and I think we could keep on going."
Loosely based on the memoirs by Jennifer Worth, Call the Midwife first aired in 2012 and has featured guest stars including Miranda Hart and Miriam Margolyes.
The current cast includes Jenny Agutter as Sister Julienne, Helen George as Trixie Franklin, Judy Parfitt as Sister Monica Joan, Laura Main as Shelagh Turner, Stephen McGann as Dr Patrick Turner and Cliff Parisi as Fred Buckle.
The series finale is being postponed due to the 2023 BAFTA Film Awards this weekend, and will now air on Sunday 26th February at 8pm.
Fans are anticipating Trixie and Matthew's (Olly Rix) wedding, which Call the Midwife has described as an "unforgettable event".
