Full list of Coca-Cola fizzy drinks recalled in UK over 'elevated' chemical levels
Coca-Cola has officially issued a recall for a selection of 'tall' cans that were sold across the UK due to higher levels of the chemical chlorate.
An alert to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), made on Thursday (January 29), advises that 330ml cans of various Coca-Cola varieties and Sprite Zero that were "sent only to cafes and restaurants" have been impacted. A six pack of 250ml cans of Appletiser have also been impacted.
Production codes to look out for on the base of the cans that have been affected are 328 GE and 338 GE. It's also been advised that standard dimension cans, all glass and plastic bottles sold in the UK are not impacted.

A risk statement on the FSA advises that the products "may contain elevated levels of chlorate". Although this does pose a small risk safety for most customers, especially if consumed only occasionally, it can have adverse affects on a select few.
This includes those who are sensitive to chlorate, particularly younger children and those suffering from pre-existing medical conditions that include thyroid deficiency, blood conditions, especially anaemia, or those with kidney diseases.
If consumed for large periods of time, chlorate can lead to the inhibition of iodine uptake that could potentially cause further affects such as goitre. Meanwhile, one single high intake of the chemical could limit the body's ability to absorb oxygen from the blood, and could in severe cases lead to kidney failure.
Coca-Cola said in its recall notice to customers: "The quality and safety of our products is top priority. We are sorry that, on this occasion, a small number of our products have not met our high standards."
