It's clear that lash serums are having a bit of a moment. Of course, you have the classics like RevitaLash and UK Lash – plus, an affordable player from The Ordinary – but there’s one luxe player that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Red team.

Augustinus Bader’s Eyebrow and Eyelash serum may not be as famous as other lash-lengthening formulas, but out of the ones I’ve tried, it stands head and shoulders above the rest.

There’s no denying that the science-backed skincare brand – most notably recognised for The Cream – is almost eye-wateringly expensive.

As I'm well-covered on the lash front, the thought of spending money on a treatment to make them even longer seemed pretty pointless. Still, I decided to put the serum to the test and now (spoiler alert) can say this is the product that has friends asking me: "Are your eyelashes real?"

Behind the Augustinus Bader Eyebrow and Eyelash serum

The luxury leanings are immediately apparent as soon as you open the box, which makes sense seeing as this brand is loved by the likes of Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Aniston.

Keeping in tune with the entire collection, the product feels incredibly lavish. It has a sleek copper tube and a navy-blue wand, which matches the brand’s signature colours. I also appreciate that it has a dense bristle brush, which allows you to apply the serum evenly onto your lash line without straying onto the skin around it.

What truly sets this serum apart is that even after a few weeks of use, I genuinely saw an incredible difference in the length of my lashes (and it's not just me, take a look at the incredible before and after pics).

Of course, effective results in skincare come from perseverance and ensuring that you use the product correctly, but investing in a hard-working formula is your first step to success. After a quick scan of the INCI list, I could tell off the bat that the blend of ingredients was bound to work some magic:

- Biotin improves the function of keratin to help stimulate lash growth.
- Polyphenols are micronutrients that prevent stress on lash follicles which can lead to them falling out.
- TFC8 is the brand’s signature complex that feeds the follicles with minerals and nutrients.

Not only do I pay attention to the ingredients, but it’s also interesting to look at the stats. Of course, the results vary depending on the current state of your lashes, but in a twelve-week trial, 90% of participants said their lashes were longer, 98% said they were fuller and 96% said the product stopped them from falling out or breaking. And if your eyes can be prone to sensitivity, 100% of participants said the serum didn’t irritate.

Is the Augustinus Bader serum worth the price tag?

As it goes with all skincare products, I didn’t expect to see transformative results overnight – but once I’d noticed a difference after a few weeks, my expectations skyrocketed.

While I’ve never been one to invest in salon eyelash treatments, like extensions or a lift, the fullness and density of my lashes now make the idea of trying them unthinkable. I’ll always be on the lookout for a sky-high mascara, but I’m pleased to report that I no longer feel the need to put some on every morning.

I’m very aware that the price tag takes the term ‘investment’ to a whole new level. Whenever a friend asks me what lash serum I use, I sell it to them first and then slowly ease them into the how much it costs. The reaction – as you can probably guess – is a universal jaw drop, but I always bottle it down to the simple fact: it genuinely works.

I’m not going to say that the Augustinus Bader lash serum is the only one that will actually deliver results – UKLash is another firm favourite. But what I will say is that if you are serious about growing your lashes to their optimum level, at the fastest rate possible, this serum is like no other I've tried.
