Celebs like Kaia Gerber and Hailey Bieber are obsessed with this Free People fleece — and so am I

This cozy FP Movement fleece jacket has earned a permanent spot in my closet.

When it comes to fall fashion, nothing beats the comfort and versatility of a fleece jacket. Perfect for outdoor activities like walking the dog, hiking or apple picking, they're my go-to for staying cozy throughout the chillier months.

While I've tried many from a range of different brands, I keep coming back to my favourite FP Movement's fleece jacket. And it's not just my favourite; it's also a popular pick among models like Hailey Bieber and Kaia Gerber (even making its way into Gerber's 7 Days, 7 Looks video for Vogue). If you ask me, the Hit The Slopes Fleece Jacket is a must-have for fall.

  • 💵 Price: $201 CAD/$148 USD

  • ⏰ Used for: More than two years

  • ⭐ My rating: 5/5

  • 🛍️ Reasons to buy: For anyone looking for a comfy layering piece for fall, this fleece is my top pick. It's roomy, oversized and has plenty of pockets to help carry small essentials.

  • ✋ Reasons to avoid: Honestly, the biggest drawback to this fleece is its price. You may also want to steer clear of it if you don't like the look of cropped sweaters.

This cozy jacket is made from a plush fleece fabric and has an oversized silhouette that gives off an effortless feel, no matter what you pair it with. It has three zippered pockets to keep your essentials close at hand and also features a snap button closure.

As someone who loves a cozy fleece as a way to stay warm, I decided to buy the model-approved jacket for myself to see if it truly lives up to the hype.

First off, this fleece jacket is extremely cozy and super soft, making it a perfect choice for my camping and road trip through Prince Edward County. Light enough to keep in my backpack but warm enough to fend off the chilly morning weather, I found myself reaching for it pretty much every day of my trip.

It was also a functional choice to have with me while out and about since the jacket has so many convenient pockets. The zippered front pockets were big enough to hold my cell phone, wallet, keys and sunglasses without worrying that they would fall out, while the smaller chest pocket was perfectly sized to store a face mask.

I ended up loving the fleece so much that I ended up purchasing it in another colour — this time in a more muted navy blue.

In addition to being a hit among celebrities, the Hit The Slopes Fleece Jacket is also a favourite among shoppers. So far, it’s earned a 4.3-star rating from more than 350 customer reviews and counting.

"This is the most comfortable thing I've ever owned!" raved one reviewer. They added, "[A] big plus [is] that it's so easy to style, and the colour is just so beautiful!" They also said they are "particularly in love with all those pockets."

"I love this jacket but was secretly hoping I wouldn't so I could return it," wrote another pleased shopper. Another person loves that "it's light with lots of pockets" and said it's "just the right length for higher-waisted pants."

Many shoppers have noted that this jacket does run slightly large, so if you prefer a more fitted look, you'll want to size down before purchasing.

"I wasn't sure what size to get (S or M)," shared one person. They continued, "I am 5'7, 135 pounds, and I decided to go with the small," as the medium was "a little too oversized."

I’d agree with the reviews that you can definitely get away with a size down, as I purchased my jacket in an XS rather than my usual size small and was still able to layer it over a sweatshirt if needed.

Having brought this jacket along on vacations, to the gym and just wearing it around the house, it definitely gets my seal of approval for a cozy and versatile pick this fall.
