It's hard to believe that Frankie Bridge has been in the spotlight for over 20 years. Having started her career at just 12-years old as part of pop group S Club Juniors, Frankie then went on to become part of everyone's favourite girl group The Saturdays before joining the presenting panel at Loose Women – meaning that she's sat in many a make-up chair throughout her career.

Having learned all the backstage beauty tips there are to know, Frankie now shares her fashion and beauty tips on social media and is also a brand ambassador for Perfectil UK.

Below, Frankie tells Women's Health about the beauty myths she's finally busted, how she navigates beauty content online and how she talks about beauty standards with her children…

Navigating beauty content on social media can be a minefield. Are there any beauty creators that you rate for decoding beauty in an honest and real way?

‘I love Michaella Boulder. She’s honest about what brands she likes and gives great at home demonstrations on how to do your own lymphatic drainage massage. I also love Elise Augustin – I enjoy seeing the different brands and products she has used, I have trialled some great new products because of her. I really enjoy watching tutorials and honest tried and tested product recommendations.’

What's your all-time best piece of beauty advice?

‘I always say to take your makeup off every night. Have no make-up days and look after your skin from the inside out.’

What about beauty fails, are there any beauty hacks you've previously fallen for?

‘Thinking that toothpaste helps spots. I think it might dry them out a bit, but it can also irritate the skin and prolong its healing, potentially leaving you with [hyperpigmentation] dark marks. I definitely spent a lot of time in my younger years doing this and hoping for the best! I can vividly remember a moment in my teens ahead of a big party, where I did this and much to my dismay… it didn’t work. I feel like there is probably a big portion of my audience who did the same and have some funny stories (and photos!) to share.’

What's the biggest beauty myth out there?

‘I think the one myth that most people still mistakenly believe, is that leg hair grows back thicker when you shave it. It’s not true! It just appears thicker as it grows back because of the blunt cut. With so much information coming at you daily, it's so hard to know what's true when it comes to beauty. I have found Perfectil's new Beauty Myths Debunked guide so helpful as it's got lots of myth debunking tips from aesthetician Katie Onyejekwe and really gives you the tools to separate beauty fact from fiction. Best of all, you can download it for free at Perfectil.com.’

Do you think content creators should be held to a high standard in terms of what they put out and whether it’s misleading?

‘I would say yes as there are so many people turning to these creators for advice and product recommendations, so it's vital they do their research before putting content out into the world.

When it comes to supplements, I love Perfectil because it’s science based – and there’s so much out there that isn’t. In fact, it’s not just Perfectil I trust, I am a big fan of the whole Vitabiotics range. I trusted them when I was pregnant by taking Pregnacare, that says enough for me.’

How do you go about teaching your sons to have healthy relationship with their appearance?

‘I make sure they feel supported with their decisions on how to cut their hair or what they choose to wear. We have quite an open and honest household where thoughts and feelings are openly discussed.’
