Florence Pugh just debuted a Scarface-inspired fringed bob
After showcasing a series of experimental updos and faux hair pieces throughout awards season, Florence Pugh debuted a blunt, fringed bob for the reopening of the Tiffany & Co. Flagship store last night in New York City.
Her reference for this elegant new 'do is, of course, instantly recognisable. The continuation of the popular flippy ends trend, the combination of straight and full fringe and bright glossy blonde are all signature features of Scarface's Elvira, a cult favourite Michelle Pfeiffer role that Pugh effortlessly embodied.
The high-shine bob, courtesy of stylist Peter Lux, was paired with with a softened smoky eye, peached hued lip (finished with a light, lived-in glaze) and the actress' signature silver septum ring. In her first outing as a new Valentino ambassador, Pugh was naturally dressed in a pale-green chiffon dress by the Italian fashion house, paired with a glittering Tiffany & C0 pendant necklace – though her fresh bombshell bob was undeniably the focal point of the glamorous look.
The Don't Worry Darling star has sported an entire wardrobe of statement hair moments in the past year, from her brunette pixie cut for A Good Person to her architectural fanned out updo for the BAFTAs; that she's changed things up again with this sleek shoulder-grazing trim, therefore, is no surprise.
Pugh is far from the first celebrity to declare that the bob is back for 2023. Earlier this year, model Hailey Bieber traded out her covetable lengths for an understated boyfriend bob, which has garnered viral obsession in the months that followed. What the two bobs appear to share is a commitment to bluntness, whether that be the symmetrical ends of Bieber's new cool-girl look, or the full blockiness of Florence's brow-grazing fringe.
While we're still undecided if Pugh's striking look is a wig or not, this sequence of blunt new trims does raise the question: is this the end of the choppy, feathered bob?
