Five things for families to do this weekend: May 9 -12

May 9—Looking for something fun to do with your family this weekend? Check out these activities around the Valley:

1. Watsontown's annual Chalk the Walk returns Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. in front of the ReMax office, 210 Main St. Categories are 6 and under, 7 to 12, 13 to 18, adult and group or team. Winners announced at 12:45 p.m. There will be a hot dog stand available to enjoy. Rain date is May 18. For more information, call 570-848-6266.

2. Milton Area Career and Technical Education Programs and Skills USA is holding a touch a truck event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Baugher Elementary School, 60 Brenda Rovenolt Drive, Milton. There will be firetrucks, work vehicles and emergency vehicles for children to learn about. Attendees will also get to meet the vehicles' operators and ask questions. Admission is $5 for guests aged 12 and older, $2 for children between 3 and 11 years old, and toddlers aged 2 and under are free. Learn more at the Milton Area School District's Facebook page.

3. Give your kids a fun literary experience at the Shamokin-Coal Township Library, 210 E. Independence St., Shamokin, as children's author Judi Jessick reads her book "Agatha Livermore and the Magic Cookie Spoon." The book aims to boost kids' self-confidence and get them to consider their potential. They can follow up the experience by meeting with Jessick. 4. Kingdom Kidz Inc. is holding a puppet program followed by snacks and activities from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at its headquarters, 11 E. Third St., Watsontown. The event is free. Learn more at hiskingdomkidz.org.

5. Head to the track on Saturday for one of the first truck and tractor pulls of the season. The event will be held at 500 Old Colony Road, Selinsgrove, starting at 6:30 p.m. and the night will end with fireworks. TIckets are $15 per person for individuals aged 13 and up, while anyone younger gets in free. Learn more at pulloffproductions.com.
