Luxury gets an upgrade at the Ibiza Gran HotelSalva Lopez

Standing proudly along the exclusive Marina Ibiza, the Ibiza Gran Hotel has long focused on wellness and world-classs cuisine, but now the five-star destination is stepping up the luxury even further. This year, the new Gran Suite Dalt Vila opened, with breathtaking views of the port and old town.

The latest addition to the hotel’s 187 suites has been masterminded by Barcelona-based interior designer Sandra Tarruella, who has scattered Gran Suite Dalt Vila with multiple design classics, from the ‘The Spanish Dining Chair’ from Fredericia to Martinelli Luce’s ‘Pipistrello’ lamp. If two bathrooms, a king-size bedroom, dressing room, bar and open-plan lounge/dining room weren’t enough, the enormous rooftop terrace is what truly distinguishes the Gran Suite.

A private haven, the terrace is equipped with heated infinity pool, jacuzzi, dining and lounge area. Overall, the suite offers insight into the future vision of the hotel, as it move towards a fresher aesthetic using tactility and light mixed with Spanish warmth to evoke serene Mediterranean luxury.

Also designed by Tarruella, the fully refurbished Open Spa is the ultimate wellness sanctuary on the island – split into two separate experiences to cater to everyone’s relaxation needs. The Aqua Spa, is designed to revitalise the body through a thermal journey using hydromassage pools, a travertine-marbled hammam, ice lounge and sauna. The Ritual Spa, meanwhile, offers western- and eastern-style massages, facials, body treatments and bespoke services. The spa also features a fully-equipped gym, beauty and hair salon, to keep you looking your best.

A new suite and a new spa then… But there’s also a treat for the culinary-inclined in the form of Michelin-starred restaurant La Gaia by Óscar Molina, which centres around two tasting menus. Offering an immersive dining experience ‘Tanit’ and ‘Posidonia’ celebrate the essence of Ibiza by taking guests on a culinary journey focused on seasonality and locally sourced ingredients.

From champagne and oysters at breakfast to the turndown service with an artisanal treat, the Ibiza Gran Hotel is exquisite in nature and profound in detail. The word luxury can sometimes entail stuffy connotations, but the friendliness and warmth of the Spanish people radiates throughout this hotel, allowing it to stand proud in this new era of Mediterranean luxury. ibizagranhotel.com
