First trailer for Sex Education and Line of Duty stars' new movie
Sex Education star Emma Mackey has swapped Moordale Secondary School for the brooding, windswept dales of Yorkshire as she stars as the lead in the upcoming Emily.
Now, ahead of its release in October, our first trailer for the sort-of-biopic is here, as Frances O'Connor directs an imagined look at novelist Emily Brontë's life as an author and poet.
Also starring Line of Duty's Adrian Dunbar and The Haunting of Bly Manor's Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Emily introduces the writer as a rebel and a misfit and follows her early career as she embarks on the literary classic, Wuthering Heights.
The official synopsis reads: "Emily explores the relationships that inspired her – her raw, passionate sisterhood with Charlotte, her first aching, forbidden love for Weightman, and her care for her maverick brother whom she idolises."
As well as a stint on the wild and windy moors, Emma Mackey – who Sex Education fans will better know as Maeve Wiley – will be appearing alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in Greta Gerwig's Barbie.
Teasing her life in plastic, Emma revealed back in June: "Right in the beginning, we had a sleepover for the Barbies, which would involve playing games with Scott Evans and Ncuti [Gatwa]."
Comparing Barbie to Emily, Emma added: "It's great to do comedy, because Emily was a sad, dark drama. Barbie is light and funny and silly and American and pink."
If that wasn't enough, you can also catch Emma make her French-language debut in Eiffel, which is out in UK and Irish cinemas from August 12.
Inspired by true events, the movie sees Mackey play Adrienne Bourgès in a fictionalised tale of her romance with Gustave Eiffel (Romain Duris) and how she inspired his most iconic work: the Eiffel Tower.
Emily is released in cinemas on October 14.
