The first trailer for Emma Thompson's new comedy is here
The legendary Emma Thompson is returning to our screens in a brand new sex comedy called Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, and the trailer has just dropped.
The film sees the Cruella and Years and Years actress play retired widow Nancy, whose marriage was unfulfilling both emotionally and sexually and who has never had an orgasm before.
Seeking a bit of adventure, she hires a young sex worker, the titular Leo Grande, played by Peaky Blinders' Daryl McCormack. She opens up about her life to him, and although he's reluctant to talk about himself beyond being "whatever [she] wants [him] to be", they eventually form a bond.
The film has been directed by 52 Tuesdays' Sophie Hyde and written by comedian Katy Brand. Although it's got nothing to do with Love Actually, it does in some way feel like a spiritual successor to the storyline that Thompson's character in that film goes through with her cheating husband and that Joni Mitchell CD.
Good Luck to You, Leo Grande premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2022 earlier this year, and received a lot of praise for its sex-positive approach and for the performances of its leading duo.
The film will be released in cinemas in the UK on June 17, while the United States are getting it on the same day on streaming service Hulu.
Later this year, we'll see Emma Thompson play Miss Trunchbull in the film adaptation of the Matilda musical, alongside No Time to Die's Lashana Lynch as Miss Honey.
Similarly to Leo Grande, it will be released on a streaming service (Netflix) in the US while getting a cinema release in the UK.
