Eddie Marsan has been spotted on the set of Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black alongside its lead star Marisa Abela.
Marsan, whose recent film and TV credits also include Hobbs & Shaw, Deadpool 2, Ridley Road and ITV drama The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, is reported to be playing the singer's father Mitch Winehouse.
Announced last July, Back to Black is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy, 50 Shades of Grey).
Industry's Abela, next to be seen in Greta Gerwig's hotly-anticipated Barbie movie, won the coveted role of the beloved North London singer-songwriter last summer.
Abela and Marsan were photographed in character walking arm in arm on a location shoot in central London.
Abela is seen with Amy's iconic beehive hairstyle and large hoop earrings, while Marsan wears a black quilted jacket and a dark green jumper.
The film is said to be focusing on Winehouse's rise to fame, chronicling her life in London and her early career, including her multiple Grammy wins.
"I feel excited and humbled to have this opportunity to realise Amy's beautifully unique and tragic story to cinema accompanied by the most important part of her legacy – her music," Taylor-Johnson said when the movie was announced.
Meanwhile, Winehouse's family have been supportive of the project and will act as executive producers.
"We are thrilled that STUDIOCANAL, Focus Features and Monumental are making this movie celebrating our daughter Amy's extraordinary music legacy and showcasing her talent in the way that it deserves," the Amy Winehouse Estate said in a statement.
"We now feel able to celebrate Amy's extraordinary life and talent," Amy's father Mitch Winehouse said previously.
"And we know through the Amy Winehouse Foundation that the true story of her illness can help so many others who might be experiencing similar issues."
Back to Black is in production, with a release date to be confirmed. Barbie will be released in cinemas on July 21, 2023.
