FENDI's New Fragrance Collection Is a Family Affair

Scent has the unique ability to evoke emotion and spark heartwarming memories for both the wearer and those around them. But for the famed fashion house of FENDI, perfume is now a family matter, too. The brand's re-introduction into fragrances comes as a collection of seven scents that are inspired by the Maison's key members.

FENDI first ventured into perfume in 1985 and went on to discontinue all of its scents in 2005 after its beauty licensing agreement with YSL Beauté, a division of the Gucci Group, ended.

The new collection starts with a perfume, dubbed "Casa Grande," inspired by the matriarch, Adele Casagrande. It was she and her husband, Edoardo Fendi, who started the brand in 1925 with the opening of their fur and leather goods shop in Rome. The scent captures the essence of their start combining notes of vanilla, tonka bean and leather.

Next is the rose-infused "Dolce Bacio," inspired by their daughter, Anna Fendi. The third fragrance, "Perché no," is dedicated to Silvia Venturini Fendi, the creator of the iconic Baguette and Peekaboo bags. It's a combination of pink pepper, pine and sandalwood that evokes the scent of the family's countryside estate.

Her daughters, Leonetta Luciano Fendi and Delfina Delettrez Fendi inspired "Ciao amore" and "Sempre mio" respectively. The pair of scents are described as warm and sweet, both mixing orange blossom with deeper notes like cedarwood. "La Baguette" a combination of vanilla and iris is dedicated to Delettrez Fendi's twin sons, Tazio and Dardo Vascellari Delettrez Fendi.

Breaking with the family theme, but keeping it ever so on-brand, the final fragrance "Prima Terra," is inspired by Kim Jones, the brand's creative director. The scent pays tribute to his childhood memories in Southern and Eastern Africa with notes of rosemary and moss.

FENDI's new fragrances will launch on June 20.
