This December, you can step back in time with a one-off stay in The Home of Christmas Past, a perfectly recreated 1980s festive haven in London.

According to research by Booking.com, over half of us feel nostalgic for the wholesome magic of Christmas in the 80s. Almost 40 per cent think the 80s are the best decade for Christmas, and nearly half (48 per cent) feel it’s important to share these memories with younger generations.

Located in south-west London, The Home of Christmas Past promises to transport guests back to a time before smartphones, with foil ceiling decorations, coloured fairy lights, and (of course) a decorated 80s Christmas tree.

Step inside the property and you’ll be greeted with festive 80s tunes and a nostalgic buffet hamper laden with classics like Advocaat, Viennetta, and Vol-au-vents. The living room is adorned with shimmering tinsel, vintage baubles and glowing lights, while a child’s bedroom is packed with iconic 80s toys, fairy lights, and posters.

Guests can relax around a chunky square TV with VHS tapes featuring three 80s festive favourites: The Snowman, Die Hard, and Gremlins. And the Christmas magic doesn’t stop there — beneath the tree will be 80s toys and gifts to take home to create new memories together.

Nostalgia isn’t just influencing Christmas decor, it’s shaping travel trends too. Booking.com found that 35 per cent of people want to recreate childhood moments through travel. 'Nostalgia is a big trend in home decor and travel. For some, that means revisiting places from childhood holidays, for others, travelling to reunite with family and friends,' says Ryan Pearson, regional manager for Booking.com UK & Ireland. 'Travel is also about the chance to feel like a kid again, and what better time to do that than at Christmas and in this, the ultimate 80s festive home.'

As well as enjoying a two-night stay in this home steeped in glorious 80s charm, guests can also enjoy Christmas in London. The package includes tickets to a magical Christmas light tour, ice skating, afternoon tea on the Thames, and champagne at the Shard.

The Home of Christmas Past will be available to book on a first-come, first-serve basis on Tuesday 10th December on the Booking.com app or website. For only £19.80, up to four guests can check in for two nights on 13th December 2024.
