My favourite cast iron brand has had a makeover - and I'm obsessed
My favourite cast iron pan brand, STAUB, is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a stunning new collection of cookware pieces with London-based brand, Buster + Punch, and it's launched today.
The collaboration features special versions of the STAUB Cocotte and frying pan, each with a modern knurled handle and lid design which, in my opinion, modernises the look and feel of the brand entirely and would make a beautiful statement in any kitchen.
If you've not heard of Buster + Punch before, the brand is known for creating aesthetically pleasing and très chic hardware like kitchen handles and wall sockets (yes, they can be chic), in beautiful brass and steel colours.
If you already own a STAUB cast iron piece, the knurled T-bar handle for the Cocotte is also sold separately, so you can retrofit and elevate any existing pieces (which is exactly what I'll be doing with my piece - in the shade Basil in case you were wondering!).
STAUB is my go-to because its Cocotte (the brands name for its cast iron casserole pot) features a uniquely designed flat lid with teardrop structures underneath that create an "aroma rain" which works as a self-basting mechanism, and ensures any dishes you cook in it, remains flavourful and moist.
The Good Housekeeping Institute tested the STAUB Cocotte and revealed that it was the top pick for those with induction hobs (that's me!), as it heated in just under two minutes, which was the fastest on test (for context, many others took about ten minutes to get to temperature). It scored 86/100 and produced delicious saucy slow-cooked beef stew, golden chicken and well browned cornbread.
STAUB’s Cocottes can move seamlessly from oven or hob to table without losing heat – and can even be used on the barbecue. STAUB’s Cocottes and Frying Pans are highly durable, withstanding temperatures of up to 250°C and resistant to -20°C.
The STAUB x Buster + Punch cast iron pieces are available in selected stockists including Harrods, and online and are priced as follows:
Round Cast Iron Cocotte (24cm) with brass or steel handle, £299
Cast Iron Cocotte (28cm) with brass or steel handle, £379
Cast Iron Frying Pan (28cm) with brass or steel handle, £199
Buster + Punch knurled lid T-bar handle accessory in brass or steel, £49
