My Favorite Advent Calendar Is Finally Back at Costco—Get One Before It's Gone
I buy one every year. The Costco version of this calendar is my favorite.
As much as I look forward to the holiday season, I firmly believe that November is far too early for eggnog, gingerbread houses, and candy canes to come out of hibernation. The one exception to that is the Bonne Maman advent calendar.
While I’ve breezed right by the holiday products already filling the shelves of my local supermarket, I’ve taken my time weaving up and down Costco’s Christmas aisles in hopes of spotting this once-a-year gift and I’m excited to see that it’s back again this year.
Shoppers on Reddit have spotted the advent calendar at their local warehouse stores, and I’m not the only one looking forward to this annual tradition. As user GlyndaGoodington said, “You’ll find me at Costco tomorrow.”
Why I Love Bonne Maman’s Advent Calendar
What makes Bonne Maman’s advent calendar worth a Costco run? For starters, the store carries a smaller version that’s half the size of the full 24-day calendar. For years, I had considered purchasing the full-sized version, but two dozen jars felt like too much to go through and, at $45, it was a bit pricey. The mini one at Costco, however, is just $16, and comes with a far more manageable 12 jams and spreads.
I stumbled upon the Costco version for the first time last year and bought one to open with my preschooler. It ended up being one of our December highlights. Every morning, he’d excitedly run into the kitchen to crack open a door and see which flavor was next for us to try. It was such a fun way to count down to the holidays that we’ve decided to make it an annual tradition.
We enjoyed each jar on toast at breakfast, but I may change it up a bit this year, thanks to some of the Reddit ideas. “Pro move here is to buy the tub of Peanut Butter filled pretzels and dip those in these jams as a night time snack,” recommends one user. “I buy one of these and use them for cheese boards,” said a Redditor in a different thread.
Like me, many of the commenters also save the adorable little glass jars. They’re scattered all across my house now, holding everything from salt to jewelry. I’m not sure what I’ll do with this year’s batch just yet, but I am looking forward to popping open the first jar on December 1.
