It's been more than two decades since Father of the Bride II was released in cinemas, but the franchise may not be over yet.

Actor George Newbern just revealed that Charles Shyer, who wrote and directed the first two films, has now completed a script for a third movie.

"Charles Shyer wrote a script. I know there's a script out there. And there's talk," Newbern told Us Weekly. "I don't know how far it got but I'm sure most of the cast would be into it if the script was right. So maybe that's just a question of that happening."

Just in case you've somehow forgotten the details, the original movie starred Steve Martin as a possessive dad who struggles to accept that his daughter Annie (Kimberly Williams) is getting married to a man (Newbern) she's only known for three months.

Pretty much everyone returned for Father of the Bride II in 1995, so fingers crossed they'll all be game for round three, because we certainly are!
