New York is indisputably one of the fashion capitals of the world. Twice a year, it begins the cycle of Fashion Weeks that take place across the globe, but there's more than enough to keep sartorially inclined visitors happy at any time of year.

The city's hotels are temples of haute design and runway-ready style, while its ever-growing, always-buzzing restaurant and bar scene will make you feel like you've stumbled across an exclusive after-party every night.

And, of course, New York is a mecca for shopaholics, making it the ideal spot for your next girls' trip (or a romantic sojourn, of course). From classics like Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman to off-the-beaten-track vintage shops and trendy boutiques, the city's shopping scene is gloriously varied – just remember to leave some space in your suitcase when packing for a trip here.

With so much going on, it can be slightly difficult to know where to start in this fashion-filled metropolis. To aid you in your trip planning, we've put together a guide to New York's most stylish spots right now, from the hotel check-in to check out to the restaurant, bar and other hotspots where you need to bag a booking.

Where to stay

It may be the city that never sleeps, but on a visit to New York it's essential to find a stylish bolthole in which to rest your head – and Firmdale's Warren Street Hotel is exactly that. Having opened its elegant doors in early 2024, this Tribeca hotel quickly became a city hotspot among savvy travellers and in-the-know locals. We'd wager that they're drawn to its boldly designed interiors, which feature bright patterns, specially commissioned art and private landscaped terraces (something of a rare find in this part of town).

The 69 rooms, which are a riot of colour, pattern and texture, are bang on trend – after all, maximalism is the new quiet luxury. The creative hotbed of a location is similarly impeccable, with all of the city's delights within easy reach, plus an on-site brasserie for pitstops between exploring.

Where to play

Aman New York is another relatively new – and extremely luxe – addition to the city's hotel scene. Even if you're not staying here, it's well worth heading down to its hidden subterranean venue, The Jazz Club by Aman.

Behind its unassuming entrance, this exclusive spot is home to nightly live performances by jazz singers, burlesque dancers and an array of New York DJs. With a speakeasy ambience, it all feels suitably prohibition era – though the wine list and cocktails (inspired by 12 of Aman's international destinations) are simply too good not to shout about.

Where to eat

It's notoriously hard to get a table at some of New York's most hyped restaurants. But for those in-the-know, one of the most stylish hidden spots can be found within the Tin Building by the city's historic seaport.

Another speakeasy-style establishment, House of the Red Pearl can be found behind a Chinese food concession stand. Inside, the atmosphere recreates 1970s Hong Kong with golden wallpaper and velvet furnishings. The food, crafted by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, is just as indulgent.

Where to drink

New Yorkers have a healthy appreciation of a great margarita, and one of the best can be found at Tobalá. This Oaxacan-inspired spot is another exciting addition to the burgeoning culinary scene in the Bronx, serving small-batch mezcals and traditional cocktails like El Mero Mero, which is made from mezcal, cucumber, tepache and serrano. All the better if you have a few to wash down some of the innovative takes on Oaxacan classics also served here.

Where to unwind

All that exploring – and, we don't doubt, a little retail therapy – might leave you looking for a chance to kick off your Carrie Bradshaw-inspired Manolos and relax for a few hours. The ideal place to do so is QC NY, a destination day spa located on Governors Island, which is just minutes away on a ferry from downtown Manhattan.

Here, you can take in views of the city's iconic skyline while indulging in a massage or enjoying the facilities – we're talking saunas, steam rooms and relaxation gardens.
