A sequel to Fall is in the works following its success on Netflix.

The survival-thriller performed admirably at the box-office following its release in cinemas last August, but has found a new lease of life on the streaming service, being the second most-viewed in the UK for a fortnight.

As reported by Deadline, this word-of-mouth buzz has led producers to moot about the possibility of a follow-up, with director Scott Mann set to return to the helm.

The first film, which starred Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner, followed the exploits of two friends who become stranded at the top of a 2,000 foot radio tower. The sequel, should it be greenlit, will reportedly "look to unsettle audiences with another terrifying tale set at a great height".

Tea Shop Productions are once again onboard with the project, with co-founder James Harris being taken aback by audiences’ reception to the film.

"We were pleasantly surprised by how everybody has such a visceral reaction to it," he said. "It is one of those movies where word of mouth really helps.

"You can make a good movie but unless you present companies with a way to market it, a lot of the time they mess it up. It was quite important for us to say, 'Shove it,' to people and control how to do the marketing," he continued.

"It’s an easy thing for people to pick up on a streamer," added fellow co-founder Mark Lane. "You can see the concept in the poster image and we’re finding that if people try it, they are getting hooked instantly."

Whilst the first film wasn’t based on a true story, Mann did reveal that the idea came from a tower in California, saying they happened upon the location whilst scouting.

"It was just like that is the perfect location, the perfect kind of character to be at the centre of this nutty thing," he said. "We scoured all around California, and it was during COVID, so we'd just drive and drive and drive to these random remote locations, to try and get access."

Fall is available to watch now on Netflix.
