Expert reveals how stress can cause hair loss

Dr Bessam Farjo, founder of the Farjo Hair Institute, explains how stress can affect your hair and what you can do about it. "While it's common knowledge that stress can affect our mental and physical well-being, many people are unaware of its impact on hair health," Dr Farjo says. "Stress-induced hair loss most commonly results in a condition called telogen effluvium, which results in noticeable generalised shedding and thinning of the hair." According to the expert, stress can 'divert' nutrients away from the hair follicles, which can eventually lead to shedding.
