For lovers of music, dance and theatre, seeing the bright lights and star-studded casts of Broadway and the West End is always a magical experience.
Now Good Housekeeping is bringing them to you on a glitzy Danube river cruise through Europe’s great capital cities, where you can meet some of the UK’s biggest musical stars: Bonnie Langford, Charlotte Wakefield and John Owen-Jones.
You’ll visit iconic historical cities including Budapest, Bratislava and Vienna, and have some fantastic experiences along the way.
The highlight of our action-packed river cruise is an enchanting private live concert with the stars at Vienna’s grandest venue, the gilded Palais Liechtenstein. Sip a glass of fine Austrian Sekt as you soak up the opulence of the elegant surroundings, and relive the classic hits from your favourite shows.
As well as seeing them perform, you’ll have the chance to ask the stars all your burning questions about their theatre and film work, and see the mesmerising Best of The Sound of Music and Salzburg Show after a delicious traditional Austrian lunch.
Meet the stars
Since first appearing on our screens in talent show Opportunity Knocks at the age of just six, Bonnie Langford has been in some the nation’s favourite TV shows, including EastEnders and Doctor Who, as well as on stage in Peter Pan, Cats, The Pirates of Penzance, Chicago and more.
Actor Charlotte Wakefield, meanwhile, has been nominated for Best Actress in a Musical at the Olivier Awards twice, while our third celeb guest, John Owen-Jones, is an award-winning West End and Broadway performer with credits such as Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera to his name.
Events and excursions
Between them our special guests have appeared in every hit show you can think of - Les Misérables, Cats, The Phantom Of The Opera, The Sound Of Music, Mamma Mia!, Chicago - and now they’ll be performing exclusively for you at the elegant Palais Liechtenstein, as well as sharing stories from their glitzy careers and chatting with you about their favourite musicals.
There are some unforgettable excursions included too. You could hike up Buda Hill for breathtaking views over the Danube, go on a cycling tour of Vienna, see amazing artworks by Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh and taste your way through the stunning Wachau Valley, sampling mouth-watering regional delicacies. In Regensburg, try beer from one of the oldest monastic breweries in the world.
After sailing from Durnstein to historic Melk, you’ll party on down the Danube with a musical-themed disco on board your ship, dancing to a selection of classic songs from the theatre. You’ll be able to brush up your dancing skills in Vienna too, during a fun waltz lesson.
