Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Hauer has hinted she may turn her hand at judging in the future.

The seasoned performer is currently the longest-serving professional dancer on Strictly following Anton du Beke’s move from the dance floor over to the judging panel.

While she’s passionate about keeping her dancing shoes on for now, Hauer has exclusively revealed to Digital Spy that she may be tempted to transition into a judging role in the future.

"I will have to be dragged off the dance floor and I’ll continue to dance for as long as my body allows me," Hauer revealed. "But after that, for me, the judge’s desk definitely calls to me.

"I’ve been in the position of both the participants and obviously, the pros. Before my Strictly days, I competed and was a finalist on the US dance talent show So You Think You Can Dance, so I’ve pretty much walked in everyone’s shoes!

"I like to think I’d bring a firm but fair approach to the panel."

However, the dance star went on to reiterate that for now she’s committed to her dancing role, admitting she intends to continue until she’s dragged "kicking and screaming out the door".

"With Anton [Du Beke] now having moved to the judge’s desk, I’m the longest-running pro on the show, which I’m incredibly proud of and don’t take for granted," Hauer remarked. "The show has evolved so much since it first started and it’s fantastic to see the breadth of dance we can display now."

Further detailing why she loves her current role as a Strictly professional, Hauer insisted she enjoys the "challenge" of teaching a new celebrity to dance each year.

While Strictly isn’t set to return to screens until autumn 2023, fans of Hauer can presently see her performing on-stage.

She’s once again dancing alongside fellow Strictly star Gorka Márquez in their Firedance tour which features a range of routines inspired by blockbuster films such as West Side Story, Romeo and Juliet, and Moulin Rouge.

Tickets for the Firedance tour are available now. The show runs across the UK from February 23 to April 1, 2023.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
