Everything we know so far about Phoebe Philo's new fashion brand

Ever since presenting her final collection for Celine in 2017, Phoebe Philo has remained largely out of the spotlight, much to the dismay of many in the industry. However, that's all about to change: the designer is launching her own fashion brand – and it's coming this year.

Philo – who first confirmed in 2021 that she would be launching her eponymous brand – has since revealed that the inaugural collection will be unveiled in September 2023. Launching a new Instagram account (one which quickly gained hundreds of thousands of followers), she also explained that the label would be open for registration in July.

This week, more information has been released. WWD has reported that the first collection will include 150 styles, which will be available to buy from a dedicated online store, and will be available in the UK, US and Europe. They also report that model Daria Werbowy will be the face of the brand.

In June 2021, Philo confirmed the news that she would be heading up her own independent fashion house, which she explained would sell "clothing and accessories rooted in exceptional quality and design". Although the brand is independent, it has a minority backing from luxury conglomerate LVMH.

"I have had a very constructive and creative working relationship with LVMH for many years," Philo explained of the partnership. "So it is a natural progression for us to reconnect on this new project. I have greatly appreciated discussing new ideas with Bernard Arnault and Delphine Arnault and I am delighted to be embarking on this adventure with their support."

The designer added that she was excited to be back working on fashion collections again, and pleased that she was able to do so independently. "Being in my studio and making once again has been both exciting and incredibly fulfilling. I am very much looking forward to being back in touch with my audience and people everywhere. To be independent, to govern and experiment on my own terms is hugely significant to me."

Philo's many hardcore fans will no doubt be thrilled. The designer managed to build a very loyal following in her 10 years at Celine, creating ready-to-wear and accessories that spoke to an incredibly chic, modern and minimalist aesthetic. She is now one of the most well-known designers of this generation.

Her position at Celine came after working under Stella McCartney at Chloé, before then succeeding her at the fashion house, becoming creative director for five years, and eventually moving into the role that she has become so famous for.
