Cannes Film Festival is one of the film industry's most glamorous affairs and Selena Gomez perfectly embodied that elegance at the event's much-anticipated gala dinner with her classic old Hollywood-inspired make-up.

The actress and singer's red lipstick and winged eyeliner is the perfect inspiration for formal nights out and Bazaar discovered the exact products her make-up artist Hung Vanngo used to create the look so you can effortlessly achieve it too - even if you don't have a red carpet to walk.

BASE

Vanngo revealed that to create a smooth canvas for make-up, the first product he used was an exciting new moisturising product from Marc Jacobs -the Youthquake Hydra-full Retexturizing Gel Cream, that is set to launch very soon in the UK.

This was then followed by the brand's Shameless Foundation in Gomez's shade - Y270 - and the Accomplice Concealer & Touch Up Stick, to minimise the appearance of imperfections and to create a glowy complexion.

The pièce de résistance though was the make-up artist's decision to lightly contour the actress' face using the Omega Bronzer in Tan-tastic and Air Blush in Flesh & Fantasy. The light bronzing powder was swept across the forehead, cheekbones and nose without any harsh contouring lines, for a natural face-sculpting finish that was designed not to draw attention away from the dramatic eye and lip make-up.

Or, for an even quicker way to fake your way to more prominent bone structure, pull your hair back into a bun, just like the actress.

EYES

The secret to Gomez's statement and flawless winged eyeliner was the use of Marc Jacobs' Magic Marc’er Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Blacquer in two different ways.

Instead of being drawn on as one block line - which can risk making your eyes look heavy or sleepy - Vanngo only made the liner prominent and thick from the outer edge of the actress' upper lash line as part of the dramatic flick.

Across the inner-part of the upper and lower lash lines it was applied as a much more delicate line instead, allowing for definition without the risk of 'panda eyes'.

The make-up artist then added some glamorous glitter across Gomez's eyelids using a light application of Marc Jacobs' See-quins Glam Glitter in Flashlight, followed by the brand's Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara for big, fluttery lashes.

LIPS

Red lipstick is a timeless beauty essential if you want to look glamorous and it was the finishing touch of Gomez's look too. The true red matte lipstick shade was Marc Jacobs' Lê Marc Lip Crème in Oh! Miley, which we'd recommend applying with a lip brush for a precise finish.

You may also want to pre-line your lips with a lip pencil beforehand to stop any matte formula from cracky or not lasting. Bazaar favourites include Nars' Precision Lip Liner in Holy Red and Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat in Warm Scarlet.
