Eurovision UK act hit back at haters in 'iconic' way and turn trash talk into 'treasure'
This year’s Eurovision UK act has hit back at haters who have been unsupportive of them taking part in the song contest.
Remember Monday, a girl band made up of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steel, will be representing the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland in May 2025 with their song What The Hell Just Happened? They confirmed their participation in the show during an appearance on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.
The trio has already been met with harsh criticism from people online with a string of negative comments. However, they have taken this in their stride and turned the hate into a playful song.

Remember Monday shared a video on social media harmonising as they sing negative comments written about them online, including “Please tell me it’s not true you’re doing Eurovision for UK”, “yep we’re getting 0 points again…” and “Are you going to Eurovision or not? I want to get the disappointment out of the way.” The clip was then posted on BBC Eurovision’s TikTok account with the caption: “From trash talk to treasure. The #Eurovision rumour mill recently hit full peak for @RememberMonday_, but for this year’s UK Eurovision it’s just an opportunity to harmonise and turn some of their favourite comments into choooons!”
While some music fans still weren't convinced, others were excited. "From trash talk to bangers! This track is fire!" said one person. "Iconic behaviour," said another.
In an announcement in response to the news that they are representing the UK in Eurovision this year, Remember Monday said: “What The Hell Just Happened is exactly how we’re feeling right now! It’s all very surreal; our friendship goes so far back, and we definitely never imagined that we’d be doing anything like this.
"When you’re a kid and people ask you what you want to be when you grow up, an absolute classic is “I wanna be a pop star”, so the fact that we’re getting the chance to live that dream as three best friends is just wild.
"We’re going to be the first girlband to represent the UK since 1999, which feels like such a crazy honour. We’re going to bring loads of fun, energy and hopefully do something that you won’t have seen before on the Eurovision stage.”
The trio, who became friends after meeting in sixth form, are hoping to do better than last year’s UK Eurovision act, Olly Alexander, who placed 18th in the competition. They first became known after appearing on The Voice UK in 2019 where they made it to the knock out rounds with Jennifer Hudson as their coach.
The girl band has since appeared on the Jennifer Hudson show and caught the attention of BBC Radio 2 Breakfast host Scott Mills when they were played on the station last year. They have described their sound as a “blend of modern and classic country, with a touch of pop and rock.”
The trio has performed at several major UK events, including Country to Country and the Long Road and they have also had their own UK tour after a sell out headline show in London. Remember Monday has garnered 91,800 followers on Instagram and 538,000 on TikTok.
