Sweeping and mopping the floors take up a good couple of hours from the weekend, eating into the precious little time I have to unwind or socialise outside of work. But a robot vacuum has changed all of that, giving me not just time, but energy back.

While it may look intimidating from the outset, it's exceedingly easy to use and set up. Once you've set up your robot vacuum on the app and charged it once you've got it out the box, you simply tap on the mode you want for it to get going.
Your robot vacuum will also come with its own station, which is more compact than I thought, making it ideal for smaller spaces. The station contains a 3L dust bag that can store debris for up to 75 days before needing to be replaced. So, when your robot returns to its station after a clean, the automatic dust disposal empties the dustcup for you, ensuring the most hands-free maintenance possible.
The station also serves as the charging point for the vacuum. When the battery runs low, the vacuum automatically returns to its station to recharge, so you never have to worry about remembering to put it on charge. I found, a standard cleaning session lasts about 40-45 minutes, and it doesn’t show any signs of running low on battery. The vacuum only takes 2.5 hours to fully charge, and if it does run out and goes to recharge, it will resume cleaning from where it left off once it's ready.
The only decisions you have to make when using the vacuum are whether you want it to do a quick once-over or for a more thorough clean you can choose for it to go over the space twice in a single session. Then, you just have to select the suction level, which ranges from ECO, Standard, Turbo, to Maximum, allowing you to customise how powerful you want it to be.
In Standard mode, the suction power is impressive, and it isn’t too loud either. However, the more powerful the mode, the louder it will be. It also tends to be quite loud when emptying dust at the station, which made me jump the first time - but you soon learn to expect it when the robot announces it's "heading home to empty dust".
Yes, the robot vacuum actually talks to you, as it has a number of smart voice reminders to keep you in the loop, letting you know about its status and any errors in real-time. Other things the robot says include "positioning" when it's figuring out where it is, "task finished, heading home" when it has completed a clean, and "charging" when it returns to the station.
This Eufy E20 model moves around with precision navigation, thanks to the dual laser sensors for real-time obstacle detection, and 129° ultra-wide front scanning for smarter edge cleaning to smoothly navigate around obstacles. I was super surprised at how well it did this and that it never got stuck in corners, bumped into furniture, or disturbed my cat. It can even climb over small ledges and seamlessly moves from room to room.

This model in particular uses a five-stage filtration, so it can capture up to 99.7% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, including bacteria, pollen, hair, and more. It did just as good a job as my old handheld vacuum (I just didn’t have to do the work).
I loved how the robot vacuum can niftily get super close to walls to gather more dust, and its powerful suction makes easy work of pet hair, human hair, dust, bits of litter, and other debris, resulting in a deeper clean.
The added bonus of the stick and handheld vacuum attachments allows you to tackle the nitty-gritty tasks, like vacuuming baseboards and cleaning surfaces such as sofas and chairs. Being able to convert the motor into either a handheld or stick vacuum is incredibly useful and provides plenty of flexibility.

Before you can start your vacuuming session, you need to make sure you clear as many things as possible out of the way to give the robot a clear path to map and clean. From cat toys to random socks that didn’t make it into the laundry hamper to stray wires sticking out of appliances, I learned the hard way. The first time I set it loose, I had to run around picking things up before the robot could get to them, but now I make a habit of clearing the floor and tidying up before turning it on, which has made my house a lot tidier.
The robot vacuum also needs to connect to Wi-Fi in order to work, but it can be a bit finicky about how close it has to be to your router for it to work properly. I had to move the station a couple of times to find the right spot for it to stay connected to Wi-Fi.
The other thing I've noticed is that, while the station is small, the robot itself juts out of the station as it empties dust and charges. In a small flat, this means you may need to be careful about kicking or tripping over it.

The additional key feature of the more expensive Eufy Omni X10 Pro (£799) is that it not only vacuums but also mops at the same time with its dual mop pads, making it a game-changer if you have a lot of wood or tiled floors.
Plus, it doesn’t just wipe your floors, it uses 1kg of downward pressure to scrub them, removing dirt and stains much like a normal power mop. When a carpet is detected, the mops automatically lift by 12mm to prevent them from getting wet. All in all, it's pretty clever and ticks off not one, but two cleaning jobs, giving you even more convenience and time savings.
The Omni X10 Pro's station is much larger than the E20's. This is due to the addition of clean and dirty water tanks on the Omni X10 Pro station, which fills the mop with water, as well as washes the mop pads with clean water once used, and then dries them with heated air to prevent odour and bacteria.

The Omni X10 Pro also has more advanced AI See Smart Cleaning, which features advanced obstacle avoidance. It's capable of identifying over 100 different objects like wires, shoes, and toys, even at night. You can even use the app to customise cleaning scenarios to personalise the routine to your needs.
However, if you don't have a lot of hard floors and carpet is your main concern, the suction on the E20 and Omni X10 Pro are the same, with a 8,000 Pa suction, so both will ensure a deep clean of whatever surface you're vacuuming.
