Esme Young is a style icon, and we've loved watching her judge the latest series of The Great British Sewing Bee alongside Patrick Grant. We've loved all her outfits on the show, and now she's shared her ultimate style tips for making a statement with your clothes.

In a video posted on the Sewing Bee Instagram page, Esme talked through how she creates statement outfits every day.

She says: "These are my tips for statement dressing. I wear a necklace every day. I like the necklace to stand out."

She continued by explaining: "I've stopped buying clothes. The necklaces change how the dress looks."

Esme shows off a beautiful necklace made of knitted turquoise metal, with bright turquoise beads. She says: "This necklace was made for me by my sister and it's knitted metal. The last one she made before this one had pearls on it from my mum's necklaces."

Esme also shows off a beautiful sequinned jacket, which she wore on the Sewing Bee Christmas special last year. She says: "This jacket was made for me by one of my ex-students. I love a bit of sparkle. My relationship with sparkle is that I get noticed, and I like to be noticed."

She advises: "I don't wear necklaces with these patterned sequin jackets. You wouldn't notice them. But a plain sequinned jacket, I would."

Esme finishes the video by saying: "I'd be really intrigued to see how you dress, and how you use your statement necklaces."

Fans were quick to tell Esme how much they loved her style, with @lauren_cowdery commenting "I have exactly the same style rules as Esme! Statement necklaces and sparkle all the way" and @klovescraft commenting "I love your style Esme".

Esme will be judging the Sewing Bee final with Patrick Grant next week, and deciding who out of Pascha, Ailsa and Luke will be crowned Sewing Bee winner 2024.

The final of The Great British Sewing Bee is on Wednesday 23 July on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
