Escape to the Country’s Jules Hudson makes announcement as show forced to 'take a pause'

Escape to the Country’s Jules Hudson made a sudden announcement as he revealed that the show was forced to ‘take a pause’ during a property search.

During Monday’s (January 20) episode of the BBC hit show, the TV host was on hand to help a couple Liz and Stewart find their dream home in Lincolnshire.

Liz and husband Alan, who is a motorbike enthusiast, currently live in Liz’s childhood home in Bournville, Birmingham but they wanted to make the big move so they could be closer to family.

Due to health issues Liz is now struggling to deal with the multilevel layout so they had their sights set on a bungalow. The duo has a budget of £425,000 for a single-storey property with two to three bedrooms. It was important that the home had a decent size garden, a large garage or workshop for Alan's motorbikes and close to a community.

Speaking about why they wanted to relocate, Alan went on to say: “The fact that my son and the grandkids live in Lincolnshire tipped the balance."

However the move is a bittersweet decision for Liz, who was left in tears as she explained: “I’ve only ever lived three miles from where I am now and all my memories are there so for me it’s massive but it’s time to make that change.”

Jules went all out and set up a number of homes to view, however just a day into their search Jules revealed that it had to come to an abrupt end for ‘reasons beyond anybody's control’.

Speaking to viewers at home, Jules said: “Well it's time now for an update on this house search with Liz and Alan. Ordinarily on Escape to the Country, we like to conduct our house searches over two consecutive days, but unfortunately a few weeks ago, for reasons beyond anybody's control, we had to take a pause.”

He continued: “Which means a few things, one, I’ve had time to shave and Liz and Alan have had plenty of time to once again scour the internet for everything that they think is on sale here right now.”

After a busy search, Alan and Liz decided not to put an offer in for any of the properties they viewed, so the search for the dream country home continues.

Escape to the Country airs weekdays from 3pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
