Escape to the Country buyers share heartbreaking reason for move after health battle
BBC's Escape to the Country aired emotional scenes during the latest episode as potential buyers explained their reasons for moving to the country.
During the latest episode, presenter Sonali Shah assisted mother-and-son duo Karin and Charlie on their venture into the countryside. The pair, who had lived in Sutton for over twenty years, longed to head to the outskirts of Edinburgh for a fresh start.
But, one of the main reasons for their move was Charlie's health. At the start of the programme, mum Karin explained: "We've lived in this house for twenty-plus years, but Charlie was diagnosed with MS three years ago, and we just changed our outlook on everything."
Sharing further insight into his health struggles, Charlie added: "It was right after I came back from Canada, training to be a ski instructor, which I did become one."

Due to his condition, Charlie decided to swap the slopes for self-expression and is now focusing his time on his other passion, painting. Talking openly, Charlie said he now requires a home with space for his canvases.
According to the NHS website, "Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. It cannot currently be cured, but treatment can often help manage it."
Talking about the mother-son pairing and their big move, presenter Sonali also agreed with their decision. She said, "As I was watching Karin and Charlie in their current property, I was thinking about everything they've gone through and how much of a major move this is.
"They've been through so much that they have life in perspective, don't they? They know what's important, they know what their priority is. They want to spend more time together, and they want that to be easy."
Karin and Charlie also wanted to move to Scotland to be closer to Karin's other son, who lives there. Karin's partner would also be joining the pair on the big move.
During their search, Karin and Charlie appeared to fall in love with the second house they saw. However, they still needed more time before they put their cash down.
Escape to the Country airs weekdays at 3pm on BBC One.
