Erin Napier’s Last-Minute Christmas Decorating Idea Is So Gorgeous (and Nostalgic!)
Christmas is just around the corner, and if your packed schedule has prevented you from doing up your tree with all the bells and whistles, then you need to check out Erin Napier’s ribbon ornaments that will make your Christmas tree look fabulous in just a few minutes. Even if you have already decorated your tree with all your favorite ornaments, a few ribbons could take your tree from great to even better.
“Merry and bright because I didn’t include the sleep regression,” Napier joked in a recent Instagram caption. In the post, she shared a photo of her family’s Christmas tree, bedecked in handmade ornaments and colorful ribbons tied to the boughs.
If you have spools of ribbon in your gift wrapping stash, you can easily recreate this look. Just unroll a length of ribbon anywhere from a foot to two feet long. Napier tied her ribbons in simple knots at the tip of her tree boughs. However, you could add a bit more pizzazz by tying your ribbons into bows.
Keep the look super simple by using ribbons all in the same color. Or, add dimension and whimsy by using ribbons of different colors and patterns. You can also switch up the length to give your tree a more handmade look and feel.
Extra points if you cut the ends of your ribbons into decorative points — just fold the ends of your ribbons in half lengthwise and snip a diagonal section starting at the fold and cutting to the outer corner. This is called a dovetail!
Along with a few strands of lights, this super-simple tree decoration will give your Christmas tree a lot of life and impact without you having to lug out all your ornaments at the last minute. Or, add them as a finishing touch as Napier did to give your tree a more festive look than in years past.
However you decide to use ribbons on your tree, it’ll give the overall look of nostalgic antique charm — and Christmas and nostalgia always go hand in hand.
